Why Barbers Can Make Hair Beautiful
Believe it or not, mostly everyone has experienced something at one time or another, a brief moment where they have tried to style or cut their own hair or cut someone else’s hair. Cutting hair can be a universal skill that can be employed literally ALL around the world, especially if understand how to cut all textures of hair.
I am a licensed Master Barber with over 23 years of barbering experience. I am very thankful for discovering the craft and I am very excited to be able to share with everyone the proper information exactly how to to become a barber. First of all, you have to ask yourself:
“Why do you want to be a barber?” I desired to become a barber for the independence, flexibility, the people you meet, the income, the diversity and more. The reason I say ask yourself this question is wish lot of people THINK they want to become barbers and then things don’t happen like they thought they would and then they want to stop and start pursuing other ventures. Your reason for wanting to become a barber has to be so strong enough which won’t let any type of negativity or doubt visit your mind and prevent you from becoming a barber.
After the figured the “why”, the following step can be always to find an excellent or local barbershop for an apprenticeship program. If you elected to go to school, are going to earn your license by attending school for 9 months to two years. The quantity of of time that it takes for you to finish school rely on if you’re to school full time or part time. Once you could have completed your hours and passed the exam, Turmoil IS You’ve!!
If you choose an apprenticeship, make sure it is an established barbershop location to make sure you are not wasting your time. The person you work under must be the proprietor. The owner probably won’t bail from you any time soon. Barber employees appear and vanish too frequently to risk an apprenticeship under it. If you work under the owner, your chances might be a little bit greater for success as a student. I was lucky and worked underneath a stable barber. But he too eventually left the shop, while before I finished the program offers you.
Apprenticeship programs are not always free. Sometimes the barber you work under may charge a weekly fees. After all, he paid for license at the same time. Make sure the charge is valid. $25-$50 a week. Also make sure you keep copies of the own transcripts in case the Master Barber sets out to have an adjustment of heart because of jealousy. Sometimes when your clientele actually starts to pick up or your talent start to get better, the actual Barber will get a little jealous. So be careful and not try too in order to outshine the actual! HA HA HA!!!!!!
Starting out, commission could be the best until you can improve a valued clientele. Commission is when the owner receives a split on every haircut that you cut. For example, if the haircut is $10, and also the split is 60/40. He will get $4.00 (40%) and will get $6.00 (60%). This great for when happen to be just commencing and an individual might be trying produce a individuals. Now once your split on the owner passes $200 full week (50 haircuts a week),you need to request booth rental. At 50 haircuts a week on a 60/40 split, the owner makes $200(less products) an individual make $300. But don’t forget, if are on commission, the owner is intended to supply you with associated with your supplies. But it comes a reason for commission structure when visitor to your site it isn’t worth paying more than $300-$500 a week in commission rate.
Commissions keeps a barber to the hip of the owner. Booth rental is much smoother. Many the time, when get yourself a for a booth, you work when men and women to as long as you meet your weekly booth rental quota and that’s it. Booth rent should begin with lower and increase over a 3-6 month period. An economical booth rental starting out is $100.00 week. Some shops charge as much as $300.00 7 days. You are able to make $2,000 full week and only have to pay $150.00 to $300.00 a week, an individual take home about $1,500 to $1,700 and are able to. If you’re making $2,000 1 week on a commission structure, you keep 60% which is about $1,000 to $1,200.
When getting into a new shop, you shouldn’t be over nervous. You have in order to sure that the shop will be a good fit you and what your are searching for go. Some barbers in order to cut white hair, some barbers in order to cut black hair, and some barbers want diversity. But at the final of the day, at this point what might be so great about our barber industry!! Will need to choose to pursue it, it almost all up a person. I Love it!!
Unless in order to going to be able to working for a major corporation, don’t have high expectations as far as the structure of most barbershops. Therefore find amazing barbershop maybe 1 through 50. While i say great, I mean the lease is paid on time, the light bill pays on time, the water is hot, the heat and a/c works, the owner is not sparatically increasing booth rental, you have supplies to offer for extra income, health plan, customer service, nice decor, clean atmosphere and anything else that is a benefit. I simply gave an example of maybe 1 shop regarding 50 which be structured this far.
The bad shops can have management problems if there any manager at all, lights become shut faraway from time to time, no hot water, no heat or a/c, the landlord is always stopping by for rent, customers aren’t happy, barbers are fighting, booth rent is not consistent, the barbershop can be filthy and the list proceeds and towards.
So please choose carefully. Go in and get yourself a haircut or send someone in to get a haircut before you are applying for the job. Don’t let the owner know you happen to be a barber until own experienced how he runs his commercial.
